Saving recipes

Where can I save recipes from?

Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, recipe websites and blogs, and photos or screenshots: a cookbook page, a magazine, a handwritten card. A recipe can come from up to three photos, for example the ingredients on one page and the method on the next.

How do I save a reel from Instagram or TikTok?

Tap the share button on the post, then choose Mealoop. If you don't see it, scroll the row of apps to the end, tap More, and switch Mealoop on. You can also copy the link, then in Mealoop tap + and paste it.

Why did a reel come out with missing ingredients?

Mealoop reads a reel from its caption. When the creator only says the recipe out loud, or puts it in a comment, there's nothing written down to read. Mealoop tells you when it's not sure. You can edit the recipe, add a screenshot of the comment, or paste the creator's blog link if they have one.

A recipe came out wrong. What can I do?

Open the recipe and edit anything that's off: the title, an amount, a step. If Mealoop misread something, tap Report a mistake at the bottom of the recipe. It drafts an email with the details so we can look into it.

Can I save recipes in other languages?

Yes. A recipe is saved in the language it was written in, Korean, Thai, Chinese or any other. Tap Translate on the recipe for an English version; the original is always kept.

Planning together

How do I invite my partner or family?

In Mealoop, go to Settings → People → Invite someone and share the code. It works once and lasts 7 days. They install Mealoop, sign in, and enter the code under Join another kitchen. You then share one plan, one set of recipes and one grocery list.

Can I plan meals for someone who doesn't use the app?

Yes. In Settings → Meals & cooks, add them by name. You can then say they're cooking a meal, without them needing an account.

Can I change which meals I plan?

Yes. Each household sets its own meals (breakfast, school lunch, dinner, whatever you use) and which days of the week you plan. You can also add your own options like "Eating out" or "Nothing planned".

What happens if two of us change the same meal at once?

The first change is kept, and the second person is told someone else just changed it, so nobody quietly overwrites anyone. Pull down to refresh and you'll see the latest plan.

Groceries

How does the grocery list work?

It's built from the week's plan: every planned recipe's ingredients, added up and sorted by category. If you change the plan, the list follows. Ticked items move to In the basket on every phone in your household, and you can add your own items too.

Why isn't salt or soy sauce on my list?

Pantry staples you rarely run out of are kept off the list, so it only shows what you actually need to buy. They're listed under Running low on any of these? Tap one to add it.

Price and devices

Is Mealoop free?

Mealoop is free to start. Mealoop Plus will add more for households that plan a lot. The details will be shown in the app, with the price, before you're ever asked to pay.

Is Mealoop on Android or the web?

Not yet. Mealoop is coming to iPhone first; Android is planned after launch.

Your account and data

Can I take my recipes with me?

Yes. In Settings → Your recipes, export every recipe as a printable recipe book or as a data file for another app.

How do I delete my account?

In Mealoop, go to Settings → Account → Delete my account. See Delete your account for what's removed, and how to ask us if you can't open the app.

What do you do with my data?

We keep what you save so the app can show it to you and your household, and nothing more. No ads, and we never sell data. The privacy policy has the details.
